The HKA has been serving the Berks County area since 1972.
The school was founded by C. Bruce & Ann-Marie Heilman, who bring over 66 years of combined
experience to the HKA Program.
The primary goal of the The HEILMAN KARATE ACADEMY, INC. (HKA)
is to teach self-discipline, integrity, soundness of mind
and body with proper emphasis on control. The traditional martial arts are designed to help
build character and prepare the student for self-defense situations as well as teaching them
how to avoid conflicts.

THE INTERNATIONAL KARATE KOBUDO FEDERATION (IKKF) is recognized world wide as
a leading traditional martial arts organization dedicated to the preservation of the
"Old Ways", offering an alternative for serious dojos / organizations.

Organizational Structure: IKKF Officers, Executive Board Members,
Renshi Kai, San Ju Nen Kai, Style / Organization Heads.
KYOSHI C. BRUCE HEILMAN currently holds ranks of: 9th Dan in Karate, 9th Dan in Kobudo,
and 3rd Dan in Ju-Jitsu. He was awarded his Hanshi Licenses (Master Teacher) in
both Okinawa Kenpo Karate & Okinawan Kobudo by Master Odo in 1997. His
Renshi License (Teachers) in Ju-Jitsu was awarded to him in 1981.
Hanshi Heilman is the Founder and President of the International Karate Kobudo
Federation. In addition he serves as a Board Member of Master Odo's Okinawa
Kenpo Karate Kobudo Federation, Okinawa, Japan; as Kobudo Board Chairman
for the United States Karate Alliance; Vice-President of the World Union of
Martial Arts Federations, Canada; Vice-President of the Yudansha Kobujitsu
Karate Doh Federation, Canada; Board Member of the International Shorin Ryu
Karate Kobudo Federation, USA; and a member of the International Martial Arts
Federation, Japan.
History of Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo
The Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo system derives its LINEAGE
from both the Shuri-te and Naha-te orthodox styles. Our lineage is passed down from the mid-1700's in a direct line from teacher to student. The lineage of Okinawa Kenpo includes
some of the greatest names in Okinawan martial arts history.
The Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo system taught by the IKKF includes a total of 51
Traditional Katas: 21 open hand and 30 weapons kata.
